In October, Butcher co-presented “The Butterfly Effect and Its Impact on A/E/C Firms” at PSMJ Thrive in Nashville, TN. Billed as one of the top conferences for architectural, engineering, and construction leaders, PSMJ Thrive is held annually and features high-level keynotes and breakout sessions from industry executives. Butcher previously presented at this conference in 2014 when it was held in Orlando, FL.
In November, Butcher co-presented “The Butterfly Effect and Its Impact on A/E/C Firms” at Design on the Delaware, the annual conference of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Butcher is a regular at this conference, having presented there four of the past five years.
Also in November, Butcher presented “Building Your Bottom Line through Business Development for Technical Professionals” at Deltek Insight 2016 in National Harbor, MD (Washington, DC). Hosted by Deltek, a leading provider of software solutions for the A/E/C industry, the annual conference brings together 3000 industry leaders and software users.
Additionally, Butcher also recently presented “Mega-Trends in the Design & Construction Industry” at the AIA Central Pennsylvania Conference & Expo and “Principal’s Forum: The Business Development Secret Recipe” at SMPS Philadelphia.
Scott D. Butcher, FSMPS, CPSM, vice president and chief marketing officer of JDB Engineering, Inc., recently presented to the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Northeast Ohio chapter in Cleveland. His topic was A/E/C Business Development – The Decade Ahead, a presentation he developed for the SMPS Foundation, a non-profit research organization for which he is Past President. Scott has given this presentation more than a dozen times, and he served as co-chair and co-author for the companion book, A/E/C Business Development – The Decade Ahead, which was published by the SMPS Foundation in 2013.
JDB Engineering vice president Scott D. Butcher, FSMPS, CPSM has been selected to co-present at the annual PSMJ Industry Summit in Orlando, Florida. He will be presenting with William R. Long, PE, LEED AP, FSMPS, vice president of Canuso Jorden. Scott and Bill are the current president-elect and president of the SMPS Foundation, respectively. Their presentation will be “Establishing a Seller-Doer Culture in Your Firm,” and they have previously presented on this topic at the SMPS Heartland Regional Conference in Columbus, OH and SMPS Northeast Regional Conference in Atlantic City, NJ. Much of the content of their presentation is based upon a survey they conducted about how architectural, engineering, and construction firms are incorporating the seller-doer model for business development. Their research findings were also shared in the February, 2014 issue of The Marketer (SMPS) in the article “The Seller-Doer Model: Is it Really Taking Hold – and Is It Working?” Scott is also a contributing writer for PSMJ publications. Scott D. Butcher, CPSM, vice president of JDB Engineering, Inc., recently presented at the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Southern Region Conference in Houston, TX. His presentation was entitled “Beyond Marketing: Developing Your Brand as a Leader in Your Firm and Community.” Butcher previously gave the presentation to SMPS Central Pennsylvania Chapter in November 2010 and will be presenting it to SMPS Arizona in Phoenix, AZ in March.
Scott D. Butcher, FSMPS, CPSM, vice president of JDB Engineering, recently lead three roundtables as part of the pre-conference proceedings at the 2010 Build Business Conference in Boston, MA. Build Business is the annual national conference of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). Scott’s roundtables were focused on marketing planning for architectural, engineering, and construction firms and were held on CPSM Day. CPSM stands for Certified Professional Services Marketer and is the marketing certification offered through SMPS. This is the second time that Scott has led roundtables on marketing planning at the conference; he previously did so at the national conference in San Diego. He has been a member of SMPS since 1992 and certified as a marketing professional since 1993.
