IMF, East Berlin, Pennsylvania – Two phase project to Building 149 including a 6,000 sq. ft. addition housing die-casters, miscellaneous plant renovations, and a 35,000 sq. ft. addition including a die-casting bay, dry floor barrel plating operation, offices, and a cafeteria.

New Manufacturing Facility, Sumter, South Carolina – New 210,000 sq. ft. facility housing facilities for manufacturing linkage pins for earth moving equipment.
New Manufacturing Facility, Morgantown, North Carolina – New 160,000 sq. ft. facility for manufacturing piston pins and oil coolers for earth moving equipment.
New Manufacturing Facility, Oxford, Mississippi – New 155,000 sq. ft. facility for manufacturing hose couplings and extruded engine components.
Manufacturing Facility, Danville, Kentucky – Fire protection for new 216,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility.
PWAF, York, Pennsylvania – Multiple projects including renovation of a one million sq. ft. manufacturing facility with specialized manufacturing “cell” approach, addition of two double ended unit substations of over 10,000 KVA capacity; electrical penthouse addition, installation of system to collect, transfer, and treat liquid acids and caustics contaminated with heavy metals, design of potable and process cold water piping system replacement, design of new quench oil system and new chrome plating line.
Harley-Davidson Motor Co., York, Pennsylvania
Facility Expansion – Full-service engineering services for a 121,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art manufacturing plant expansion constructed in three phases. The first phase included consolidation and relocation of assembly lines into the expanded facility, allowing for all motorcycle models to be assembled in one building. The second phase entailed a 28,850 sq. ft. two-story addition. The first floor houses warehouse space, new outdoor patios, a meeting room, and renovations to the existing cafeteria, while the partial second floor contains office spaces. The final phase was 21,775 sq. ft. and includes a new fitness area, physical therapy center, retail shop, tour center, and a theater.
Softtail Manufacturing Plant – Development of equipment layout schemes and process utility design for new 350,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant. Equipment was both new and relocated from adjacent facility.
Open End Contract – Multi-year contract at the one million square foot Harley-Davidson Final Assembly Plant in York, PA. Several hundred work orders have been received, including survey of existing 115KV and 13.8KV electrical system, development of one-line diagrams, survey of existing 480-volt distribution system and verification of all associated equipment, study and design of improvements to compressed air system, design of industrial wastewater pumping system and piping, development of plant standard specifications, telecommunication surveys, rebalancing of assembly line, various heating and ventilation studies, and more.
Paint Building – Major new state-of-the-art paint spray facility for applying finish to motorcycle parts, and subsequent addition. For the latter project we also supplied an on-site resident representative during construction of the 10,000 sq. ft. Project.
Heat Treat – Relocation/installation of existing Heat Treatment equipment used in the production of motorcycles.
Sig Sauer, Exeter, New Hampshire
Corporate Headquarters, Manufacturing and Test Facility – JDBE was commissioned by Sig Sauer, one of the nation’s leading firearm manufacturers for military and law enforcement, to oversee an expansion and relocation project entailing two existing Sig Sauer buildings and a newly-purchased 260,000 sq. ft. building to serve as a new world headquarters. Work included manufacturing, gun testing range with specialty exhaust systems, and offices.
Magnesita Refractories, York, Pennsylvania
New Batching/Product Line – Engineering and design for a new batching/product line for a product not previously produced in the United States. JDBE collaborated with the Magnesita engineering and manufacturing staff to install three new lines into an existing building on site.
Moore Business Communications, Thurmont, Maryland
Facility Report – Electrical, HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing engineering services for a due diligence report for the 125,000 sq. ft. printing facility
R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co., Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Reader’s Digest Expansion – $70 million expansion including a 250,000 sq. ft. addition for printing of all Reader’s Digest magazines in the U.S.; Installation of three new presses, two patent binding lines, and five mail lines.
Gravure Expansion – Complete engineering design for 135,000 sq. ft. plant expansion to accommodate new gravure presses, associated spaces, and specialized solvent recovery system.
Roll Storage Addition – Design of a 63,000 sq. ft. roll storage addition to existing printing plant including a 50,000 sq. ft. Early Suppression/Fast Response fire protection sprinkler system.
Press Area Upgrade – Renovations for the addition of three printing presses; four 40′ x 50′ roof bays were raised to create penthouses for press equipment.
Additional Projects – Chiller addition and redesign of chilled water piping system for entire facility; Spot cooling for printing press operation; Pressroom air conditioning upgrades at Financial Printing Division plant.
R.R Donnelley & Sons, Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania
Distribution Center Study – Analysis of an existing manufacturing facility for conversion to a proposed distribution center.
Uzin Utz AG, Dover, Delaware
New 53,000 sq. ft. 100-ft. tall dry mortar manufacturing facility. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and process (review) engineering was provided to the facility which includes a production plant with a warehouse as well as an administration building.
Uzin Utz AG, Waco, Texas
New 80,000 sq. ft. pre-engineered metal building for storage and shipping purposes. Project also included production tower with pneumatic conveyance of raw materials to silo, office area, quality and research lab, and palletizing area along with miscellaneous offices for the warehouse. The building will allow for future expansion for adhesive production.
Northrop Grumman, Linthicum, Maryland
Office IT Upgrade – Major project to upgrade and replace the Information Technology (IT) systems throughout three buildings, encompassing more than 1.7 million sq. ft. The scope included selective demolition, new wassl, floors, and ceilings, provision of card access to every room, and improvements to the IT infrastructure including new Category 6A cabling, outlets, patch panels, switches, racks, and cable trays throughout the three buildings on the campus. MEP systems were modified, as required. The buildings house offices, research & design laboratories, clean manufacturing areas, and general manufacturing spaces.
Mack Trucks, Inc. Macungie, Pennsylvania
Administration Building Modernization – Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for building renovations at the Mack headquarters. Project included infill of an existing courtyard to create 2,400 sq. ft. of new space as well as renovation of the two-story, 24,000 sq. ft. existing building. An additional 18,000 sq. ft. of space in the adjacent manufacturing building was renovated to accommodate conference rooms, training rooms, and a new cafeteria and kitchen. An additional 13,000 sq. ft. of office space was created above the cafeteria.
